Very cool hike to the second highest peak at Skyline behind Javelina. As you head West past the bridge take the closer South route to Pyrite,...

Very loose and rocky in places. Looks like horses really took a toll on the trail in places.

First time running this trail. Trail condition is good, some loose slopes, but actually less rocky than a lot of other trails in Skyline Park.

Agreed, the climb is more fun than the descent so that tells you about how exciting the down is. I’d pass on this one unless you want views from the peak or a challenging climb.

Rode this again, and i dont know if it was a change in the condition of the trail or something else but the switchbacks on the way down are rideable and it was very satisfying to clean the whole way down. The way up is far more difficult under dry conditions though.

In my opinion, the uphill was more fun than the downhill. Its a tough ascent, but you're rewarded with a nice peak. The downhill is tight switchbacks every ~20 yards the whole way down. I'm inexperienced, so this meant I was basically walking my bike the whole way down. Sidenote: i fell off my bike and sat on a cactus on the way up. Getting the rest of the thorns out while writing this.

We hope you've been enjoying Trailforks!
