This loop starts at the mountain bike parking lot at Slivermine Dam. Its primarily a jeep track loop that circumnavigates the dam providing stunning views of the dam and ocean from virtually the whole route. It is uni-directional and the first few km are a character building uphill until the high point and the best views are reached. From here the descent back past the dam can be a loose and scary affair with a lack of grip in the corners and a smattering of hikers and dogs creating extra obstacles to consider. All in this is a great scenic route with climbing that will boost your fitness levels. As an alternative, start at the Tokai Forest and enjoy even more climbing but fun single track on the way down. This is a marathon riders dream route
