This trail is best ridden North to South, or better yet as an extension of Upper 50 Year trail. Middlegate starts with a mixture of technical rock gardens and punchy uphill climbs. It then descends through a fast and fun downhill that includes several carved out dirt chutes, and many great small rock features and rolls. Keep an eye out for alternative lines. The trail spits you out on a dirt road right next to 50 year trail.

Dry, descent is amazing. Rutting isn't as bad as it was last summer. Looks like some new lines available on descent. Not sure if a few bushes died...

A little muddy puddle or two but otherwise super dry. Looks like it’s had some water erosion in the past so rutted out in places.

Some is fun, some is complete crap. It's a long trail, depends on which sections you ride and in which direction.

Great way to get a bit more fun after 50 year, if you don't mind a bit more climb. Also cuts off a lot of the boring stuff down low on the way back to the car
